Giant Humboldt Squid Invade Southern California

The Associated Press is reporting that a massive invasion of giant Humboldt squid is taking place on the coast of Southern California, from Orange County down to San Diego. They are returning after a two and half year hiatus.

The sizable cephalopods, which can weigh 30 pounds or more, come and go as they please. And for whatever reason, thousands have appeared wandering through the Pacific and washing up on beaches.

Here's more coverage of the return of the giant squid from KGTV San Diego.

A ten tentacle salute to Lori Dorn for the tip!
